The European Commission sent eight banks statement of objections alleging that they had infringed EU competition rules via collusion during 2007 - 2012 in a way to distort competition in acquiring and trading European government bonds. According to the European Commission the traders working for those banks had exchanged commercially sensitive information and ensured coordination regarding trading strategies.
