European Commission fined recycling companies Campine, Eco-Bat Technologies and Recylex a total of € 68 million for fixing purchase price of scrap car batteries. A fourth company, namely Johnson Controls, avoided fine as it released the existence of cartel to the European Commission. It was established that the parties to the cartel colluded to decrease the purchase price of used car batteries they bought from scrap dealers or collectors.
